One day home staging in Coventry

Just one day of shopping and one day of home staging made a huge difference to the appeal of this home. My client borrowed some basic furniture from friends, and I took everything else with me. The estate agents were amazed, and increased the asking price of the house immediately!  My client said: "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love it, the place looks amazing. You have really bought out the best in the place and the colour schemes are gorgeous.  You were right about [...]

One-day Home Staging in Brocton, Staffordshire

This one-day home staging project was initiated by an Estate Agent - John German in Staffordshire. They needed good photographs of a lovely house for sale in Brocton, and were delighted with the results: "Thank you for your very pleasant and prompt service, I know our clients were most impressed." Paul Barnes.   And the homeowners commented "Many thanks for today, it was lovely to meet you and I have really enjoyed watching an ‘expert’ in action. The photos are fabulous."  They [...]

“Please help me to sell my house, I hate it”

"Please help me to sell my house" said my new client on the phone. (The first sentence she ever said to me.)  And the second one was "I hate it and I have to move!" That was the first and only time I have had a client confess they really hate their home, and I felt like she meant it. Lots of clients "hate" a room, or a wardrobe or a colour, and would "like" to move, but this was really extreme. [...]

‘I need you to stage my home again please!’

"Stage my home again please!" A previous client sent me this message - I had already helped her to sell her house within days during the previous year, and now she was on the move again. Knowing how beneficial the service had been, she had no doubts about calling me for a second time. (There's a link to her first house at the end of this page.) This time, she had learnt from her previous mistakes (mainly involving mixing the wrong colours together) [...]

One-day staging a house in Chester – a four bed property

Staging a house can be done in one day, given the right circumstances. It's best (but not always necessary) to have a consultation first, so all the plans can be made and the homeowners can do some of the preparation beforehand if they would like to keep costs down. Then I can come for one day, style the house room by room, and take the photos when the light is right. In my next example, horses are very important to this family, and they [...]

House makeover in Northampton – reclaiming the dining room

A house makeover and declutter in Northampton. This family was undergoing some major changes - the twins were leaving for university, which meant that the parents could reclaim the dining room back, as it had become a 'temporary' bedroom for over a year. There was a strong possibility that the house would soon be going on the market, so every decision we made took this into account. Before - the living room After - white paint in [...]

House staging – updating a farmhouse in Overseal, Derbyshire

House staging a farmhouse. This was truly my favourite so far.  I was given a free hand to “put the life back in to the house again” - and I did just that!  Re-arranging furniture, de-cluttering, painting a couple of rooms and adding some new accessories was all it needed. My client was quite emotional: "Just wanted to say thank you again for all your hard work, enthusiasm and support. You certainly have brought the farmhouse to life, our parents would have [...]

Empty house makeover in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. (A 6 bedroom house.)

I was asked to do this house makeover by some local developers I have worked with a few times. It was unique, and they only had a tiny budget for furniture, window dressings and accessories - only £6,500 plus my shopping and styling costs. I had twelve days to furnish the entire house. Some of the furniture choices weren't perfect, but cost and availability were the priority. Twelve rooms for £6,500 is almost impossible. (But not quite!)  The Estate Agent [...]

House Doctor training course in Leicestershire. 1 house, 5 days, 12 delegates.

Back in 2008, the House Doctor advanced training course first came to Leicestershire - Long Whatton, to be precise. Within only five days, the delegates attended training courses at the Yew Lodge Hotel every day, then went to practise what they had learnt on a 'real' house nearby. I was one of the two trainers on the course. The homeowners were delighted with their complete home makeover and said it was a dream come true.  They had wanted to update their home [...]

Declutter project in Redditch – a house and apartment combination

A huge declutter project in Redditch, followed by home staging to prepare it for sale. This wonderful property had been a precious family home for many years, but the girls had now 'flown the nest' and impending retirement enables a move nearer to the sea, so we were delighted to help to declutter and prepare this property for sale. To start with, the lady of the house was adament that she didn't want to get rid of anything, and rented two huge [...]
