How important is it that the home makeover increases the value of your house?

  • This always needs to be considered, even if you don’t plan to move for a while. Unforseen circumstances could force you to sell your house unexpectedly, so to make changes to it that may devalue it can never be a good idea
  • Structural alterations such as extensions and loft or basement conversions will usually add value to your home, but additions such as swimming pools can have the opposite effect

  •  Every decision must increase the perceived value of the property – and preferably the actual value too
  • Don’t waste any money on changes just because you always planned to do them, check how high they are on the priority list for selling purposes
