Back in 2008, the House Doctor advanced training course first came to Leicestershire – Long Whatton, to be precise. Within only five days, the delegates attended training courses at the Yew Lodge Hotel every day, then went to practise what they had learnt on a ‘real’ house nearby. I was one of the two trainers on the course.
The homeowners were delighted with their complete home makeover and said it was a dream come true. They had wanted to update their home and “Pull it together”. They needed style ideas, new colours, fabrics, and furnishing advice. Once the decorating was complete, we bought all the new accessories in secret, as part of the training course! The homeowners stayed away for a few days, and then enjoyed a television-style “Reveal” at the end of the project. There wasn’t a dry-eye in the house!
