Home staging in Worcester.
This house had already been on the market for a few months, and was getting many hits on the estate agent’s website (much higher than average), but no viewings. One of the reasons was obvious. The interior photos had been taken by a professional photographer, who had chosen three rooms, moved everything out apart from a few essential pieces of furniture, and then added so much light to the photos that the rooms looked like they belonged in a modern apartment. The interior shots didn’t match the exterior. Potential buyers were finding an external photograph of a 5 bed country house, which was very appealing to them, but once they viewed the interior photos, they lost interest as the rooms appeared too modern inside. The reality was that the rooms did match the exterior – they were lovely, especially after my one-day home staging makeover.
An old coach house in Worcester
Entrance hall before…
Entrance hall after. The lighting was awkward in this space, and opening the door not only improved the light, but feels very welcoming. See how the right lighting illuminates the wallpaper.
Before – the living room was enormous, but the furniture layout didn’t emphasise this.
After
Before – the dining room felt overcrowded and small
After – removing the photos from the wall, and trying different photo angles solved the problem
Before – the lighting was difficult in this space
After – I kept an eye on the lighting throughout the day, and in the late afternoon, I was rewarded with this perfect natural lighting as the sun moved into position.
Before
After – just a simple tidy-up and tweak for this room
Before
After
Before – a messy little room below the main part of the house
After – a very desirable study with a view
Before – a huge wasted space behind the house
After – a welcoming space
After – from another angle
Before – the master bedroom
After – again, waiting for the right lighting really helped to take a warm photograph
Before – another bedroom
After
Before – an awkward space
After – as clear as possible, with good lighting
Before – too crowded
After
Before – a spare bedroom
After
Before – you can even make a difference to a small room, by clearing any toiletries etc
After
Before
After – removing the blue stripes calms the bathroom and then it feels larger
This one-day home staging took place a couple of weeks after a consultation. The homeowners did some work themselves before I cane for the final day,for example, they moved a bed from the girl’s room, jet-washed the patio etc so I could fit all the finishing touches into one day.
