Garden Design
Looking for a garden designer? Here’s a more affordable, practical alternative to a traditional service...

1. Send your photo and we chat

2. I transform your photo into a vision

3. You do the work, following my step-by-step plan
Simple, affordable Garden Design
Not sure where to start with your garden? I’ll turn your photos and ideas into a clear vision and practical plan you can follow yourself.
Whether you’re planning a complete garden makeover, redesigning a problem area, or simply trying to make better use of the space you already have, I offer practical, affordable garden design guidance tailored to your garden, lifestyle and budget.
I can help with layouts, planting ideas, screening, seating areas, pathways, focal points, and all those finishing touches that make a garden more enjoyable to use.
All consultations and plans are delivered remotely, making the process flexible, convenient and cost-effective. You’ll carry out the changes yourself, supported by a clear step-by-step plan and realistic inspiration images. Further guidance is available at any stage if required.
Why choose this approach?
By separating the design from the work itself, you stay in control of your costs. Most of your budget goes directly into creating your garden rather than paying the higher design fees often associated with larger landscaping companies.
A good plan with a vision helps you avoid costly mistakes. You will know what to do first, what to prioritise, and how the finished garden could look.
Your garden design coach
If you would like additional help along the way, I can stay by your side throughout the project — a bit like a fitness coach for your garden. I’ll help you make decisions, stay motivated and move your project forward with confidence.
My approach is practical, down-to-earth and always tailored to your garden, your lifestyle and the way you want your outdoor space to look and feel.
For professional garden design guidance, without the cost of a traditional garden design service.

Small garden project plan with an inspiration image… £65
See the potential of your garden before you even start. Perfect for a small garden or single area that would benefit from a fresh perspective, practical ideas and a clear plan.
Simply send photographs of the space and, after a chat about your garden and goals, I will prepare your personalised garden plan and inspiration image. Designed for DIY, you’ll carry out the work yourself or use your own gardener or landscaper.
Many clients with larger gardens choose to improve one area at a time, booking additional plans as the project progresses. Additional support and guidance can be booked at any stage if required.
Comprehensive garden plan with two inspiration images… £295
Ideal for larger gardens, multiple areas, or a complete garden redesign.
Send photographs or videos of your garden and we’ll discuss your goals, priorities, lifestyle and budget. I will then create a personalised report and action plan, together with inspiration images and a garden layout plan showing how the different elements work together.
Designed for DIY… you will bring the changes to life yourself, or use your own trades – you will have a clear plan for local gardeners and landscapers to quote from. I’m here to give you clarity, direction and a practical plan.
I help you to understand where to start, what to prioritise, and which changes are likely to have the greatest impact on the appearance, functionality and enjoyment of your garden. Further support and guidance can also be arranged if required.

Who does the work?
My consultations and plans are delivered remotely, making the process simpler and more budget-friendly. You’ll carry out the changes yourself, with clear guidance and support.
Many clients enjoy tackling the project themselves, while others use local gardeners, landscapers or tradespeople to help bring the ideas to life. Either way, you’ll have a clear plan to follow and a realistic vision of the finished result.
I am based near Bath, and on-site garden design services can be offered in Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire and North Somerset if preferred.
How much does a garden makeover cost?
The total cost of the project will, of course, vary depending on the current condition of the garden and what you want to achieve.
Some gardens can be transformed simply through tidying, pruning, reorganisation and better use of the existing space, costing little more than your time and effort.
Other projects may benefit from additional planting, screening, lighting or garden features, while larger projects may involve landscaping, paving, decking, or pergolas
The advantage of having a clear plan from the start is that you can prioritise the most important changes first, spread costs over time if required, and make informed decisions before spending money.
To be clear…
- The Inspiration Image is a virtual transformation of your photo.
- You can send other photos or videos of the garden too, for clarity.
- The plans give you a clear, practical route forward.
- NB. These plans do not include detailed product specifications
- Further help can be booked during the project
- An Inspiration Image, without a plan, can be booked for £35
- Please note: whilst I use AI to adapt your photograph, the inspiration images are created to illustrate my own recommendations, based on our discussions and your requirements. They are not generic AI-generated plans.
Christopher, Bath…
“Thank you so much for your thoughtful design. We would have made so many mistakes if you hadn’t opened our eyes – a patio with no sun after 2pm, a shed blocking our living room daylight and a generic rectangular lawn to name but a few! Happy to recommend you.”

I created a step-by-step plan and an inspiration image
THE BRIEF:
- A pergola somewhere
- A grown-up space
- Tuck the trampoline “out of sight but in sight too”!!!
- Scented plants
- Easy to maintain
- Small lawn area

Before

Now ready for the path and planting
Amanda, Bristol…
“”We would recommend this service to everyone! Lynn took the time to listen to our needs and somehow managed to incorporate everything we both wanted – no divorce necessary! Then we got 3 quotes from local gardeners, and they were all much lower than the design/landscaping companies that we initially approached.”
Example of a Comprehensive plan for a new home front and back garden…

THE BRIEF:

Before – literally just lawn and 6 patio slabs

Partially ‘After’ – this is a work in progress – the back fence area plants are next and the patio area near house

This is the inspiration image for the front of the house, to be started in a a few months

Paul, Landscaper, Solihull…
Paul (a local landscaper) comments on my design – “It was so easy to visualise the design on the ground. It’s a really good plan, and you allowed for easy amendments eg when the slope was steeper in reality than we thought, the extra step didn’t spoil your design. I would recommend this service to many landscapers, as all the main decisions had been made, and we could quote and start a lot sooner.”
